WostAYN on a Looming Humanitarian Catastrophe in Artsakh

Updated: Dec 23, 2022

It is already 12 days since Azerbaijan's so-called “environmentalists” blocked the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia. The Azerbaijani authorities do this to create a humanitarian disaster in Artsakh, disrupt the ordinary lives of more than 120,000 civilians, and cause fundamental violations of human rights. Civilians are in isolation, massive traffic jams have occurred in the cold winter weather, and people are deprived of heating and hot water. Schools and kindergartens do not operate. They have been isolating the population of Artsakh, depriving them of elementary humanitarian rights and opportunities to provide for their vital needs, creating a humanitarian catastrophe for them.

The military-political leadership of Azerbaijan, coordinating these actions of the so-called "environmentalists", violates not only the tripartite agreements reached on November 9, 2020, but also international conventions and treaties on human rights issues reached by the UN and adopted by most countries of the world.

The World Armenian Youth Network - WostAYN is concerned about the policy pursued by the Azerbaijani state in today's demanding conditions. WostAYN calls on all its international partners, youth organisations and networks to raise their voices of protest to avoid the danger of a new genocide of the Armenian people and, first of all, the population of Artsakh.
